A list of scholarships typically available through the Counseling Center can be found in your senior guide. Please note this is to be used as a guide only! The scholarships and deadlines listed in the guide were developed from last year's database and are not a complete list of all scholarships available. This page will provide you with the updated eligibility criteria, deadline and scholarship applications. As scholarships become available during the year I will post them here. Scroll down for a list of scholarships.
Scholarships will be listed in order of due date and will include access to the scholarship application. If it is a local scholarship it will be marked "Local" and be in "red". Any other scholarship that you would like Ms. Foster to look over please bring to her at least 10 days before the due date. If you apply for scholarships through an online application and need a transcript or other documents mailed please see Mrs. Stephens.
Name: Missouri Cattlemen Scholarship Program
Amount: $1,000

Applicants must be a Missouri resident and a current paid member of the Missouri Junior Cattleman’s Association or the parent/legal guardian must be a current paid member of the Missouri Cattleman’s Association. Students must meet the following requirements: 2.5 GPA or better, submit three (3) letters of recommendation, submit a transcript, and demonstrate leadership potential through extracurricular activities and work experience. Preference may be given to students who plan to attend a Missouri college or university & have financial need. Preference also given to those planning to major in an Agriculture field, Biochemistry, Food Science, and Nutrition and Plant Science. Applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence and come from low-income households are invited to apply. Questbridge works to help students access top-tier educational opportunities. The following is taken into account when evaluating applications: GPA, class rank (top 10%), rigor of high school curriculum, test scores, writing ability, and recommendations. Most finalist for this program come from households earning less than $65,000. Applicants will need three letters of recommendation and a transcript. Apply online at www.questbridge.org/.
Name: Prudential Spirit of Community Awards (open to grades 9-12)

AES offers scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Students are not required to take engineering courses to be eligible for this scholarship. The student will submit an essay of 500-1,000 words in answer to the topic/question listed on the website. Essays must be submitted to the following email address: [email protected]. There is no application packet and students must include their full name, name of high school, and plans for next year. Name: Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program
Amount: $1,000-$20,000

Seniors who apply must have financial need ($55,000 or less in family income), have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, at least a 2.0 GPA, strength of character and a desire to contribute to society. Must be graduating senior with a commitment to pursuing a bachelor's degree and a US citizen. Students will need to provide their school counselor's email address in order for their application to be certified. An email address will also need to be provided for the individual who is completing the "Support and Verification" form for you. A transcript and a copy of the front page of your parent/guardian's 2018 individual federal tax return must be provided as well. Name: Coca-Cola Scholars Program
Amount: $20,000 (150 given)

This is a merit-based program (minimum 3.0 GPA to apply). Students are evaluated on leadership, community and extracurricular activities; academic achievement and employment. The first application is a preliminary online application and does not require an essay or transcript. Students will be notified by November 21st if they are a semifinalist and will be asked to provide more documentation at that point. Name: Missouri Botanical Garden Youth Fellowship

The Missouri Botanical Garden Youth Fellowship Program recognizes the top high school seniors in the St. Louis region for their work as environmental stewards. Recipients will participate in a competitive fellowship program with like minded peers and receive $500 scholarship for higher education. Awardees will be selected based on their past work in at least two environmental fields (including research, restoration, education, advocacy, sustainability, and nature immersion), as well as their intention on addressing pressing environmental issues in a future career. Name: John M. Belk Scholarship (Davidson College)
Amount: Equivalent to college’s comprehensive fees (~$63,903)

This program is open to prospective undergraduate students applying to Davidson College (North
Carolina). Undergraduates must be nominated to receive consideration. If you are applying to Davidson College and want to be considered for the John M. Belk Scholarship, please notify your school counselor. Your school counselor must nominate you and include a letter of recommendation. Students interested in this scholarship must notify their school counselor by the above deadline so that there is adequate time to write the recommendation letter before the November 10th deadline. Name: Missouri S&T Chancellor's Scholarship
Amount: $12,000

Highly competitive scholarship awarded to 15 students and is renewable with a 3.25 GPA. Eligibility for this scholarship is met by the following criteria: 1.) must be in the upper 10% of graduating class after six (6) semesters OR have a GPA of 3.75; 2.) Must take the ACT (or SAT) by October and receive a score of 31 or better; 3.) Have strong leadership skills through school and community activities; and 4.) Resident of Missouri. Must apply for admission online apply.mst.edu and submit an official transcript (by October 15th is recommended to allow for processing time). The scholarship application is only available online and cannot be completed until your paperwork for admissions is received. Applicants must also submit a 750-word essay (topic provided) and should follow the instructions on the website below. Finalists for the scholarship will be invited to visit campus in December to discuss his/her essay. The Missouri Association of Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP) is offering a one-time $1,000.00 scholarship to a 2019 graduating senior. Applicants will write an essay describing a person in his/her life who is inspiring them to fulfill their post-secondary education dreams. Essay must include post-secondary educational goals and how this person is helping you to achieve those goals as well as impacting your life. Applicants will submit the application online through a google doc form but must email the essay and a selfie to [email protected]. Make sure you include your full name and the name of your school with your submission.
Name: Ron Brown Scholar Program
Amount: $10,000

African-American students who excel academically, exemplify exceptional leadership potential, make an impact on their communities, and demonstrate financial need. Previous winners have been in the top 10% of their class. The scholarship may be used at any four-year college or university and is not limited to particular academic disciplines. There are two deadlines; the November 1st deadline allows students to submit their application for early consideration of the Ron Brown Scholarship. The January 9th deadline is the final deadline. Application materials must be mailed in one packet. Transcripts and letters of recommendation should not be sent under separate cover. Incomplete, e-mailed or faxed applications will not be considered. Name: Hagan Scholarship Foundation

Name: UMKC Trustees Scholar Program
Amount: Full Tuition, Room & Board
Deadline: November
Students must meet two of the three following academic criteria: ACT of 30 or higher, ranked in top 5% of class, minimum GPA of 3.5 in the 17-class core curriculum. Must also enroll as a full-time student and commit to living on campus for 2 years. In addition, candidates are evaluated on their community and/or school involvement as well as leadership abilities. Must be fully admitted to UMKC before December 1st. Students applying for the 6-year med program, school of pharmacy (including pre-pharmacy), and architectural studies are not eligible for this scholarship. Name: Doris and Ralph Klose

The Wichita State University College of Applied Studies announces the Doris and Ralph Klose Scholars Day for high school seniors who declare a major in math or science teacher education at Wichita State University. Winners of the scholarship will be offered a financial aid package that may include various scholarships. The Klose Scholarship, up to $20,000, covers the average cost of tuition books and fees during their junior and senior year.Be a current high school senior have a minimum high school GPA of 3.50, have a minimum ACT composite score of 24 or a 1160 on the SAT, be in the top 10% of your class, declare a major in a math or science teacher education program.

Name: MU Scholars Award
Amount: $10,000

Students must have at least 33 ACT and a strong academic record. ACT or SAT scores must be sent directly to MU from either ACT or the College Board. MU can no longer take test scores from high school transcripts. Eligible students must apply for admission online and earn required test score by Dec. 1st. The office of admissions will contact qualified applicants by the 3rd week in December. The applicants will be asked to submit a resume and essay. A committee will review completed and applications and make the final selections based upon credentials and supplementary materials. 35 scholarships will be awarded. Name: MU Freshmen Automatic/Competitive Scholarships

The University of Missouri offers several scholarships for which students are considered automatically when they are admitted to MU. Other MU scholarships require the students to apply using the Annual Scholarship Application. Students must be accepted to the university and complete the online scholarship application by December 1st. Scholarships are based on ACT scores and GPA. These scholarships only require an application for admission. Check online at sfa.mst.edu/ for criteria. The priority deadline is December 1st. Students planning to attend Missouri S&T are strongly encouraged to meet the priority deadline. There are other scholarships that you can apply for at sfa.mst.edu/.
Name: Hagan Scholarship Foundation
Amount: $6000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.

Nationwide need-based merit scholarship. The scholar ship is designed to help recipients graduate college debt free. Recipients must graduate from a public high school located in a county in the United States having fewer than 50,000 residents. To be eligible you must be a citizen of the United States, must attend an eligible public high school, must be a student in the school graduating class, must have achieved a 3.75 or higher, must score 24 or higher on the ACT or 1,150 or higher on the SAT, must enroll at an eligible four year college or university the fall semester following high school graduation, must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of each academic year of college, have to complete the FAFSA in 2019, EFC must be less than $6500, must apply for eligible Federal and State Grants, must not have been convicted of a felony.

Name: Missouri State University (MSU) Presidential Scholarship
Amount: $12,500 ($6,250 for tuition & $6,250 for on-campus housing)

Missouri State University offers this scholarship to students who are in the top 10% of their high school class

Name: Opioid Awareness Scholarships

A $500 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, Nursing, Pre-Med, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or any other field relating to substance abuse. Must be currently attending or planning to attend a college or university during the 2020 academic year.Must be in good academic standing with your current educational institution. For applicants under 18, must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Must apply to the contest by email and provide their name, address and the name of the institution you are attending or plan to attend. Graham Scholars, Chapter Scholars and True Sons & Daughters Scholars. The same online application is used for all of the above scholarships. Your parents DO NOT have to be alumni of MU to apply. Students must be in the top 20% OR have a 26 ACT and have been accepted to MU (you will need your Mizzou student number). Name: Burger King Scholars

Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be involved in community and school activities, and plan to enroll at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. Name: Missouri State University Freshman Academic Scholarships

Missouri State University has multiple automatic and competitive scholarships available to incoming freshman. In most cases, the application for admission must be submitted by January 15 in order to be considered for these scholarships. The February ACT Test is the last test date where scores will be considered for scholarship. There is a variety of requirements and some require a separate application. Name: Elks Scholarship-Legacy Award
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: January
Any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2019. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. If your parent and grandparent are both Elk members, you should apply through your parent’s Elks Lodge. The Selection Committee judges applications based on the following values: knowledge, charity, community, and integrity. Applicants must take the ACT by December 2018. Name: Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

Students must major in engineering or a related science such as math, chemistry, physics, biology, technologies, computer science, etc.; meet G.P.A. and ACT/SAT requirements and submit supporting information. There are many scholarships that are offered through this organization; therefore, students may have more than one scholarship application to complete based on what they are eligible for. Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. Name: Doug Harper Memorial Scholarship (Local Basketball Players) (new added 11/8)

Awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in high school basketball and competed in the annual High School Holiday Hoops during their senior year. The scholarships may be used at any college or university with no specific areas of study named. At the Bill of Rights Institute, we love to ask challenging questions. We also love to reward students who rise to the challenge by tackling some of the most compelling questions of our time. For this year's We the Students Essay Contest, we are challenging students to tell us what civil discourse means to them. The students who provide the most thoughtful, meaningful responses to this question will receive scholarship awards of up to $7,500. A total of fourteen students will receive scholarship prizes totaling $20,000. Name: Union Plus Scholarship Program

Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children can apply for a Union Plus Scholarship. Members do not have to purchase any Union Plus program product or participate in any Union Plus programs to apply for the scholarships and scholarship awards are not based upon participation in a Union Plus program. Must be in one-year continuous good standing union membership (satisfied by May 31, 2018) with a union participating in any Union Plus Program. This is a competitive scholarship, and applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor. The Northwest Region Association of the Missouri State Teachers Association, recognizing the need for the recruitment of outstanding people into the teaching profession, has established a scholarship fund to be used to assist students going into the field of education. This scholarship must be used at a college or university within the state of Missouri. The Northwest Region Association awards these for the purpose of attracting students to the profession of education. We are looking for students with outstanding ability and sincerity of purpose. The Scholarship selection will be based on: character and personality, scholastic record, aptitude for teaching, sincerity of purpose to the teaching profession, and financial need. Open to Missouri residents pursuing a degree in biology, wildlife management, forestry, fisheries, ecology, agriculture, criminal justice, or a field of study closely related to the preceding subjects. Name: Golden Griffon Competitive Scholarship (MWSU)
Amount: $5,000 (plus housing if you want to live on campus)

Students must rank in the top 10% of class OR have a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale), have an ACT of at least 27, and show evidence of involvement in extracurricular activities and community service. Applicants must have already applied and been accepted to MWSU. Applicants are required to fill out the general scholarship application through their Goldlink account before February 1 in order to qualify for the scholarship. Applicants must submit one essay and may be invited to a personal interview. If selected for this scholarship, students must be in the honors program, live in the residence halls, and become an active member of MWSU club or organization. This scholarship is renewable for 4 years if a student maintains a GPA of 3.5. Must have already applied for admission and been accepted to MWSU. For those who choose to live on-campus, the scholarship will also include the cost of room on the Academic Achievement Floor in Vaselakos Hall, and will remain fixed at the freshman-year cost renewable up to four years.

The Griffon Guarantee Scholarship is different from other scholarships. It starts with an initial award ranging from $500-$6,500 that automatically renews and grows each year as long as you remain enrolled full-time, meet the hours completed requirement and are in good academic standing (2.0 GPA). To be considered for all of the general and departmental scholarships, you only have to complete one scholarship application through your CatPAWS account. The scholarship application is located under the Financial Aid tab on CatPAWS. Must be accepted to the university in order to receive scholarships. Name: Robert Trulaske Sr. Scholarships (MU Scholarship)

The University of Missouri-Columbia College of Business scholarship is awarded to students who have shown academic and professional promise, but have not received the Bright Flight or other MU Scholarships. Additional consideration is given to students graduating in the upper 2/3 but outside of the top 10% of their class. Must fill out the Mizzou annual scholarship application.
